I have watched from afar your journey, since my days at EKU, in the mid-90's. Phone 3, and all dem places. Even that little joint where all the bikers use ta drink. I loved those days. Freedom! Be well, and keep on singing and playing. Storytelling is such a lost art. www.wisdomkeeper.wordpress.com

I live in a beautiful spot in the world, that is, until my county decided we needed to straighten out the highway so we can "attract more business and industry". They are blasting through on Hwy 52 and have made a giant mess reminiscent of Avatar. I've taken a stand and contacted the EPA so now it's really stirred up. Thanks Mitch, for writing Drop in the Bucket. It's become my theme song as I fight for the former beauty of my now spoiled creek. Is this song on the Zoe Speaks release, or have you released it again recently? I saw your set at Floydfest and it was great. Thanks...Pam

It was great to meet you, at Sully's in Somerset, this past weekend. My sister and I enjoyed your music and we were so happy to be placed in the right place at just the right time. Thank you also for taking the time to seek us out and say goodbye. It is the small things, just like that, that mean the most and resonate with people. Hope to see you again soon.

I heard you play at the Barea Craft Festival. It's been a couple of weeks since and I can't seem to get enough of the music on the CD that I bought â€" 'Heart and Soul'. I was visiting from Houston Texas. Is there any possibility of you touring these parts? Anything I could do to help you get gigs here? There are some good venues for folk musicians in Houston. So to sum it up, thank you for the making the music that makes me feel good! Does this make me a cosmic possum?

Hope to see you soon.

Mitch, your music has been something that has strengthened the ties of my "odd" little family since the beginning. We attend the festival every year as a family...unfortunately we have hit some rough patches. However it'll all come out in the wash, it always does. The most important thing I wanted to say is thank you for some wonderful memories and some of the best lessons in life with your music as the soundtrack.

Hope you're doing well Mitch. I've been trying to do some research on my Barrett lineage and a lot of it runs through Madison and Clay county Kentucky. I wrote this special poem to celebrate Mother Earth.
This seems to be a nice place to share it.
Here goes:
In the circle the wind rises,
centrifugal,
this is the dance of reason,
air locked in the vacuum of a chambered nautilus,
nature ordering reason,
a thousand flapping wings,
gravitational,
magnetic,
you, the heavens, dream silence,
as if, the wind were your soul.
this is the heart polarized.
Magical Hawk, all-seer,
the snow-cave is where you rest.
sleeps the tender Mother-
blanketing earth crimson.
The leaves speak of you as blood and wishes, circular, voiced and real.

Hey Mitch,
Got your message about a couple weeks ago concerning the "drop in the bucket" cd. Yes we got both of them and the wait was well worth it, got to see you at the Berea festival back in July and also got to purchase your new cd, as expected we loved it and listened to it all the way back home.
We, my wife and I hated to here about you and Carla. I understand you need closure on that part of your life and I hope and pray that it comes very soon. I do a lot of deer hunting and hiking and while I'm out there by myself I keep a journal faithfully. After 15 years of the journal, a divorce, a remarriage and a wonderful son now at the age of 9 I've come to realize that we have no control over things that happen weather it be good or bad. Life is an adaptation to environment and I know the adaptation comes hard to swallow at times, but with the help of prayer, friends, family and your innerself time does help heal. We hope you the best for its well deserving to you. Take care and keep up the good music we love it and hope to get to see and listen to you soon somewhere. PEACE BE WITH YOU!!! THE WILSON'S

Hi Mitch,
Sorry to invade your site with a personal question. But did you grow up in the Berea area? Are you any relation to Flossie McHone who married a Barrett? My mother who would have been Flossie's neice lost her mother Viola Jane when she was four. She was taken away from her family so she was wondering if you might be a cousin? And if you could give her any news of the family?
Thank you,
When will you come to CA?
Joe Werne - Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

I miss your music and need a fix. When and where are you playing next ?????
Roberta Schultz - Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008
Lordy, Mitch,
You should never put the words "cosmic" and "possums" in the same phrase! Who knows what weird-os you'll attract? Since I personally own an old truck license plate that says "Possum" and think that "Ossum Possum" would be a good band name, I think I'm making my own case here.
Anyway, your site looks great! Enjoyed your show at Appalachian Fest in Cincy.

Hey Mitch, I wanted to say thanks for the CDs you gave Dad. We listened to them all the way home and they're amazing. I had a great time at Moose and Donna's on Thanksgiving. I tried to add you on myspace, but I don't know the stuff to get it to accept the request. Maybe you could go to Dad's page and add me? Thanks again. Peace. Mariah Jade

It's pretty exciting times if you ask this old opossum, might be the end of time.Hey, how come you ain't famous? Why don't you quit playing for kids and recovering addicts and stuff (you can't save the world).Go to Nashville and get rich and famous! You might be a cosmic possum, but you ain't no smart possum. Thank Ye!

Hey Mitch,
Got your message about a couple weeks ago concerning the "drop in the bucket" cd.

Mitch,
"Drop in the Bucket" was well worth the wait. I look forward to hearing your new solo CD. If Peggy and I drive up to one of your KY. shows will you promise to play Elvis and the Indians"? I love that song. Also, what would you charge to do a private concert in the Tri-Cities Tennessee area?

Hi Mitch,
Sorry to invade your site with a personal question.

Roberta

Hey Mitch,
Thank you again for another great show. It's amazing the folks that come out to one of your shows, people that have never been to our venue before. Some kind of magic happens when they hear your music and they tell a friend and they tell a friend and so on.
Till next time, and there will be a next time...Thank,
TFFM

Mitch, really enjoyed your show at Rock and Soul and Lyons Folks Fest. You mentioned your Festival in Ky in October, and I am trying to get more information about it. Is there a website where I can get this data? Are they accepting submissions from Songwriters? Is there onsite camping? (and other questions =) Thanks, Sandy
